    Fishing

Cast a line into the surf from a beach or rocky shore, try your luck for a bream or whiting or bass in the sheltered waters of a wide estuary, or head out to sea and spend a day fishing on the continental shelf - Coffs Coast has it all. Talk to the locals about the best fishing spots and the right gear - experienced operators offer a range of fishing charters to help you make the most of your day on the water.

    Where to fish

Throughout the year Coffs Coast offers beach, river, deep-sea and estuary fishing. Boat ramps are also prominent throughout the Coffs Coast. Fishing tours and charter boats are available for half day, full day and nights for reef, deep-sea, sport and game fishing.

In Coffs Harbour both, Jetty Beach and Park Beach are excellent for beach fishing - Whiting, Flathead, Bream, Tailor and Mulloway fish abound.

Boambee Beach offers beach and river fishing - Luderick (Blackfish), Whiting, Flathead and Brim. It is 4wd accessible.

Between Raleigh and Urunga - where the Bellingen and Kalang Rivers meet the sea - you will find Bundagen Headland, Tuckers Rocks and the River Mouth. Fish caught here include Drummer, Snapper, Jewfish, Luderick, Bream, Whiting and Tailor fish.

Nearby is Repton with its two local fishing spots - Repton Rail Bridge and Repton Hole. In these spots you can do some deeper water fishing and catch Mangrove Jack, School Jewfish and Bream.

Nambucca provides great estuary and rock fishing - Drummer, Snapper, Bream, Jewfish, Tailor and Whiting.

For the serious fishers head out to the Split Solitary Marine Park. It offers beach, rock, estuary and deep-sea fishing. Or go to the continental shelf (20 km off shore).

Check out the zoning guide for the marine park before you go.

All anglers fishing in NSW waters now require a licence. To find out more, visit NSW Department of Primary Industries
